Our ambitious and purposeful curriculum, asks students to think, to be curious and problem-solve whilst securing key knowledge and skills. The curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure all students are appropriately challenged from Year 1 to 8.  Explicit teaching along with rich and varied experiences ensures all students secure the basics and are well prepared to step with strength and confidence into the next part of their educational journey. Staff work hard to plan lessons that consider the role of memory, knowledge, and understanding in learning, giving students a strong sense of success and achievement as they become more clever and the knowledge sticks. Staff are also skilled at adding that touch of magic and wonder into lessons to engage our young people and leave them wanting more.

To get the most from our curriculum it is important to us that students feel a sense of belonging and connection to their school. Taupaki spirit fosters this belonging and connection; our school culture is positive, respectful and engaging resulting in students feeling happy, safe and connected.  This includes an emphasis on good manners and consideration of others. The development of independence and children taking responsibility for themselves are also features of our school, enabling students to grow and develop into resilient and caring young people. 

Taupaki School was opened in 1899 with a roll of 22, and whilst it has progressed, the kiwi country school continues to be at the core of its culture; served by an unwavering dedication from all members of its community. Taupaki School is a gem and I feel very privileged to lead it.
